10+2 Importer Security Filing
The Importer Security Filing (ISF), also known 10+2, is a new US Customs and
Border Protection (CBP) regulation requiring importers and vessel carriers to
provide advance data elements electronically to CBP for non-bulk cargo shipments
in-bound into the United States by vessel. The focus of this initiative is to
improve CBP's ability to recognize high-risk shipments in advance to ensure the
safety of America's borders. ISF went into effect January 26th 2009. As a
resident or non-resident US importer, or as one of their suppliers, are you
prepared to provide the required Importer Security Filing elements 24 hours
prior to vessel lading? If you are not doing this today, you may be in
non-compliance with the new requirements.
ISF Report Cards
U.S. Customs will be providing ISF report cards to importers who request them.
This is to be used as an educational tool for reflection on the ISFs filed by
the importer. Since we are still in a non penalty phase ISF filers should be
using this report to understand the timeliness and accuracy of their filings. To
register for your ISF report please send an email to U.S. Customs at
progress_report@cbp.dhs.gov.
The email should include: 1) Filer's corporate name 2) Filer code used for
filing ISF 3) Point of Contact 4) Point of Contact's telephone number

Report Card.
10+2 Presentation
TRG Direct has prepared a basic overview of the Importer Security Filing
requirements, which includes an outline of how our solution can assist you in
meeting them. Recognizing the complexity of the requirements and the operational
process changes which may need to be made for your company to comply with them,
we have also teamed up with the Trusted Trade Alliance to provide in-depth
training focused on the needs of parties located overseas involved directly or
indirectly in the ISF process, and which may not be familiar with the laws and
principles underlying the ISF. Use this presentation to educate your company on
Importer Security Filing.
Don't let 10+2 disrupt your supply chain, and don't waste money--now is the time
to implement best-in-class, low-cost, compliant ISF solutions like that provided
by TRG Direct. CBP will be phasing in ISF enforcement and penalties over the
next year: be ahead of the game and adjust your processes to be fully compliant
today, without paying inflated service provider bills.
